Great location, very accommodating and friendly staff

Excellent location. Lovely breakfast of coffees, juices and mostly pastries. Simple but generous and fresh. Stairs to room manageable. Booked an economy double bed, smaller room, but it was a perfect size and well appointed. Hosts were terrific. Very kind and helpful. The valet service was wonderful as there really isn’t parking.

This is a small hotel in a historic building, very convenient location. The hotel staff greeted us very friendly with a glass of juice, gave us a map and advised where to eat and what to see etc. we liked the breakfast in the morning.

The Location The Staff

The staff at Hotel Santa Croce are wonderful. They are friendly, helpful, English speaking. To site only one small example: the hotel has no elevator because it is in a building from the 1600s and adding an elevator would be prohibitive. But the staff will insist on taking your luggage up to your room and retrieving it when you leave. The staff obviously want their guests to enjoy their visit to Florence and will do what they can to ensure that. I really appreciate that. They will provide both interesting and moving information about their surroundings and about the city's attractions. They are justly proud of the city, its history, and the interesting history of the building that houses the hotel. And the location of the hotel, near the basilica of Santa Croce, is excellent for visiting the city. Unfortunately, the rooms aren't of the same quality as the staff. My room was small and charmless, with a shower box that--likely because of restrictions on renovation--was so small that when I dropped the soap on the floor, I had to turn off the shower and open the door so I could bend down to pick the soap up. The room was clean, though and the bed was comfortable. But even with the restrictions on renovation, there could be some updating to the decor. Perhaps other rooms have more character than mine did. I would hope so, because the staff deserves a good product to represent. As a bottom line, I would say that at this price point, one can do better in Florence as far as the room goes. But at this price point, you cannot do better in terms of a helpful, welcoming staff. The breakfast was adequate but not special by any means.

The location is awesome, very close to the Santa Croce square and in a walkable distance from all main points of interest in Florence. The staff is very friendable and attentive (specially Mario and Fabrizio).

We were received incredibly well, the host even gave us travel tips. Our apartment was very spacious and well placed, surrounded by historical monuments. The AC was working well.

Had to book quickly and last minute. Super accommodating and friendly staff! Allowed me to store my luggage upon check-out, until I was able to check into my next place.

The location was perfect — right in the heart of Florence, close to everything. What truly made the difference was the warm and personalized attention from the entire staff. They were always kind, helpful, and genuinely committed to making our stay comfortable. You can tell the place is run with care and passion.

Simple and nice 2 star hotel. Excellent location, no more than 10-20 minutes walking to a lot of sights and museums. Beautiful old building. What really made the stay special was the hosts Mario and Gabriel. They were so friendly and welcoming. When we arrived they gave us a drink and tips on where to go. I lost one of my earrings down the sink when I was drying my hair, they took apart the water pipe and found it for me. If that's not going above and beyond then I don't know what is! The breakfast was continental, toast with marmalade, cheese or ham, yoghurt, egg muffins, sweet pastries and tea/coffee. No frills but tasty, what I expect in southern Europe. We stayed on the 3rd floor, there no lift (probably due to the building being several hundred years old) but it was very manageable. The room was like the pictures. The mattress was maybe a few years old and a bit sunken in the middle, but we both slept very well for 3 nights. For the price we payed we were very happy. I would definitely recommend and if we come back back to Florence we will stay at Hotel Santa Croce again. Grazie!

Perfectly located accomodation. It is too close all historical places in the center of Firenze. Mario is very helpful host. He told us during checkin about all points in Firenze that we should visit. Also he instantly solved our air conditioning problem and he offer us a free breakfast for this issue as a treat. Strongly recommended for a joyful stay in Firenze. Thank you Mario.

The hotel has a lot of charm. I liked the fact that its old and its part of florence's history. The room was well orgnaized for a small room. It was perfect for me but for 2 it will maybe be a littel small. What i really enjoied is the service and the staff. They helped with everything! Thank you Mario and all the team.

You can find more expensive hotels in the heart of Florence within a block of Hotel Santa Croce, but you will not find better hosts than than the two brothers Gabriel and Mario who pay attention to every detail of this boutique B&B and treated me like family. I had a wonderful three night stay, the room was quiet, neat and clean. I want to mention a few items that standout and I thought exceptional. * The room was cleaned, fresh towels and linens every day. * The hotel street and room, were very, very quiet. * The location is as good as it gets in Florence, a few minutes walk to The Doumo, Uffizi, Arno river, etc. * The breakfast included was a perfect European breakfast, with pastries, cereals, sliced meats and cheeses, expressos and cappuccinos * The room had room air conditioning and radiator heat. * As mentioned above the owners Gabriel and Mario are on-site, acting concierges, and bend over backwards to make your stay exceptional.

Great location right in historic part of town. I liked the friendliness of the staff, they organized for a 3rd party to park our car and bring it back and let us store our luggage in the lobby on the last day. The bed was comfortable. The double pane windows obliterated 100% of the sounds of the hoards of tourists walking in the street right next to us.

Close to all the main attractions, all within walking distance. Very friendly host. My single bed room was a bit small but not a big deal. Pretty good for a solo traveler.

The property is in the middle of the city, close to everything! We loved how accessible all major sites were. There’s restaurants all around and the train station is only a 15 min walk from the hotel which is also very convenient. The two brothers that own this hotel are friendly, providing tips around navigating the city, city history, and more! We loved our stay here.
